They say loneliness is just a state of mind. You may readily agree with this, or you may strongly disagree. But there are different scenarios that prove this.
By default, people automatically think that when a person is alone, the person feels lonely. Ironically, there are a lot of people who live alone but are content with where they are. These are the people who know who they are and what they’re meant to be, people who are happily waiting for what lies in store for them. It’s not about being surrounded by other people just so they can say they are not alone. They are happy with their own thoughts and their own company.
Then there are those who are always surrounded by a large group of people, but feel very incomplete. These are people who have not quite discovered who they are yet, those whose happiness depend on others. Displaying another form of irony, these are the people who remain lonely despite being in the company of others.
What can you do when you’re in this state?
Talk to people.
More often than not, our loneliness comes from us. We have the tendency to seclude ourselves from others, creating a barrier that bars other people from coming in. By breaking out of your shell and talking to people, you can slowly emerge from your cocoon.
You’re already spending time with yourself, might as well feel and look good while doing it. Go for a massage or a facial. Get that amazing meal you’ve always wanted to try. You may be alone, but feeling awesome about it will take the loneliness away.
Discover where the loneliness is coming from.
Why are you feeling lonely? No one else can answer that question but you. You have to dig deep and discover where the negative feelings are coming from. Once you know what the problem is, it’s easier to find solutions.
Yes, the best way to make the most out of your loneliness is to discover everything else the world has to offer. Go somewhere where nobody knows you. It’s a great place to find who you really are and what you are capable of doing.
