Tipsy Bar by Splinter Works

This sculptural mini-bar evolved from Tipping Point. Tipsy plays with balance, but here the work appears neither to be able to stand up, nor substantial enough to hold weight. However through geometry and carbon fibre technology, it is both completely sturdy and immensely strong.

Balancing on a curved base, leaning far past its centre of gravity, it is both striking and curious. The structure is bizarrely thin, just 2mm in some areas, which suggests a sense of fragility and delicacy, as though it has simply been folded from a piece of paper and precariously balanced on its side. It is intentionally incredibly light, enabling it to be moved around to suit the occasion.
