Summer is fast approaching which means spending lots of time with your loved ones outside, on holiday, or around the beach. With this, you’ll want to feel and look your best, which is why being healthy leading up to the summer months is important. In fact, it’s important to be healthy year in year out as not only will this help you reduce the chance of getting ill, but it will make you feel better overall.
To help give you a kick start to improving your overall health, we have put together an article on 4 tips to getting healthy in the lead up to summer.
Exercise Regularly
As part of a healthy lifestyle, it is important to exercise regularly. This will help not only your mental wellbeing but also your physical wellbeing. Whether you are choosing to exercise and get into fitness to lose weight, build muscle or feel better about yourself the benefits are endless. Try and get out at least three times a week. This can be in the form of running, joining a sports club or going out and walking an extra 2000 steps a day than normal (You’ll be surprised at the difference this can make). If you have any friends who are looking to exercise more, invite them along as some added motivation!
Reduce your alcohol intake and the amount you smoke
Alcohol is ok as long as it’s drunk in moderation. When over consumed it can be detrimental to your health and damage your mental and physical wellbeing. This is why it’s important you don’t overindulge and drink responsibility. Smoking also has many negative effects on your life which is why quitting will help you to feel healthier overall. In fact, if you are looking to give up smoking you could try Killapods an alternative to smoking as a healthier option.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Do you know how much water you drink on a daily basis? If not, then you are not alone. Many people don’t know how much water they use on a daily basis. It is recommended that you aim to drink around 2-3 litres a day. If you don’t think you are achieving this, then try and keep track of your water consumption using an app on your phone. The other alternative is to fill up a 2-3 litre bottle at the start of the day and make sure you finish that bottle by the time you go to bed. Drinking water helps to keep your skin in good condition, improves your concentration and helps with your brain’s functioning.
Achieve The Recommended Five a day
The recommended daily allowance of fruit and vegetables is five or more – do you think you achieve this? If not, then this is one area you can improve that will have a big effect on your overall health and how you feel. When trying to increase the amount of fruit and vegetables you eat, try to add them to your daily meals during the day. When having your breakfast add some fruit to it. At lunch, you can add some vegetables like tomatoes or cucumber to your sandwich and then for dinner you can add vegetables to flavour your sauce. If you like to snack during the day carrots and hummus can be a good option.
