How to determine the level of IQ? A few words about creating tests. What was the IQ of famous scientists and artists? Who in the world had the highest IQ?
Who Has The Highest IQ In The World?
People with the highest IQ are much easier to realize in education and careers. Today we want to understand how IQ is calculated, which people had the highest scores, and how it helped them achieve their goals.
History Of Test Creation
The first to explore the “intellectual test” in psychology was J.M. Cattell in 1890. He believed that if a set of tests is applied to many people, it will be possible to understand the pattern of human mental states, which will bring psychology into the format of the exact sciences.
Cattell created 50 variants of tests that measured sensitivity and time spent responding to color, sound, and so on. After Cattell, many laboratories in the United States were created by his followers, similar to Cattell’s laboratory.
A new step in the development of tests was made by a scientist from France, A. Binet, who created one of the most popular series of tests at one time.
And for the first time, a scientist from Germany used the definition of “intelligence quotient” in 1912 W. Stern. He advised using the number obtained as an indicator of intelligence by dividing mental age by chronological (true). And in 1916, IQ was applied to the Stanford-Binet intelligence scale. This scale has been one of the most popular worldwide for many decades since its introduction in 1905.
But the most successful test is considered to be the test of the scientist psychologist Hans Eysenck from Germany, who created in 1945 a set of 8 tests for adults, the principle of which is to solve logical problems for a while.
Since interest in such tests has sharply increased, many of them have now been created, which include questions on various topics: history, literature, mathematics, geography, art, biology, chemistry, and more, and also contain logical tasks for time.
But there is the Official International IQ Test, considered the international standard millions of people use worldwide.
Determination Of The IQ Of People Who Died Before The Advent Of The IQ Test
Few people think about how the IQ of the geniuses of past centuries was determined if the first tests were created only a few centuries after their death. Scientists have found this way and chosen the IQ of such artists and scientists:
- Leonardo da Vinci – 220;
- William Shakespeare – 210;
- Johann Goethe – 210-225;
- Isaac Newton – 190.
For example, engineer L. Tims applied the technique he developed, the essence of which is to evaluate a person’s contribution over 10 years.
And in the Svenson-Krein method for determining intelligence, human behavior and his statements are analyzed.
People With The Highest IQ In The World
Many people are interested in knowing who has the highest IQ in the world. Below we will talk about two unique geeks in history.
Adragon De Mello (400)
Adragon de Mello was born in 1976 in California (USA) and was the only child in the family. His abilities showed up phenomenally early. At the age of 6 weeks, he said the first word, “hi.” At 2 years old, he learned the alphabet; at 3 years old, he read and wrote. At age 5, he was accepted into an organization that united people with the highest IQ – even then, his coefficient was 400! After graduating from college in two years, at the age of 10 he entered the University of California, and a year later, he graduated and received a degree in mathematics.
His father was obsessed with winning the Nobel Prize, constantly enjoying the child’s fame and giving a considerable number of interviews, saying that his son is talented thanks only to his (father’s) upbringing.
He had no friends, but there was a father who overloaded the child with a large number of tasks.
Now he leads a closed life and works at a regular job unrelated to science or art.
William James Sidis (250-300)
William Sidis was born in New York (USA) in 1898. His father was a renowned MD in psychology. His parents wanted to make a genius out of him. At the age of 1.5 years, he read the entire newspaper. Until the age of 8, he wrote 4 books.
At 9, he successfully passed the exams at Harvard University but was enrolled in only 11 years due to emotional immaturity. He was predicted to be a mathematician. Later he entered the School of Art (Harvard). He taught at the university for some time, but the students did not favor him because he was much younger than them. Disappointed in teaching, he quit his job.
He was a very antisocial man who abandoned his personal life, devoting himself to developing the intellect. Almost all his life, he worked as a simple accountant, but as soon as they find out at work that this is the same genius, he quits his job and looks for a new position, leaves for another city, and changes his name.
He died in Boston at age 46 due to a cerebral hemorrhage without making any scientific discovery.
