If you’re getting ready to hit the road and get on your next adventure, then you’ll need to make sure you have the right stuff with you. There’s a lot more to packing these days, especially since gadget creep seems to have caught up to us all. So, read on and see what you might have missed that’d make your travels just a bit easier.
1. Document Holders
You can end up in a lot of trouble if you don’t have your documents secured during your travels.
A good document holder should be at the top of the list for everyone who’s traveling, especially if their journeys take them outside of their native range.
Find something you can use. Ideally, it should be lightweight, self-contained, and small enough that it won’t take up a ton of room in your travel pack.
If you don’t give thought to how you’ll have your passport, ID, and other essential paperwork bundled then you’re already off on the wrong foot. So, make sure it’s all together!
2. Pet Carrier
If you’re planning on traveling with some of your furry friends, then you’ll need to find a good pet carrier.
More than that, you’ll also need to find one which is easily accepted by whichever mode of travel you’re using. By plane, boat, or car… there are different requirements!
It’s not just a matter of using things like airlines either. Even if you’re going for a drive within your home country you should give it some thought. Having a great pet carrier that is optimized for travel makes things much easier for you.
It also makes things better on your pet! So it’s win-win.
3. Media Organizer
Do you have a good way to keep all of your micro-SD cards, flash drives, and portable hard drives together while you’re on a trip?
If not, then you should give it some serious thought. You need them to make sure that all of your information, and those amazing pictures you took, stay together and… well, organized!
Which works best depends on how you want to travel and how much you’ll need to keep with you. For those working abroad, it can be a considerable amount, after all.
The moral of the story? Find one that works and keep it glued to you! Physical media is great for places with bad internet but it’s also vulnerable to being stolen.
4. Travel pack
What kind of bag are you using these days? Chances are that it’s not the optimal design and a few dozen dollars can make your life a lot easier.
A good travel pack can carry upwards of 40 liters of stuff without turning into a backbreaker. Brands like Osprey focus on making accessible packs that carry incredible amounts of stuff while keeping it organized.
There’s more to it than just upping the volume, however. If that was the case then we’d all just use regular duffel bags. Instead, look into one which is keeping things organized in a way you can live with, in addition to being able to carry all of your stuff.
Don’t make the mistake that many make each year! Get a good, long-lasting pack that is a joy to use.
5. Coffee Supplies
If you love coffee, then you’ll need to make sure you’ve got it just right. While many great destinations have a cafe on every corner, they’re not always available.
Instead, you may need to bring your own maker. It’ll keep you from ever being bottled up and unable to get your caffeine fix. You can even get a portable espresso maker to make sure you never miss a cup.
Traveling can be frantic, and what better time is there for a serious cup of coffee?
Keep in mind that traveling with beans or grounds may be problematic, it’s more about making sure you can have the right cup rather than the right beans in this case.
6. Multi-Charger and Adapter
If you’re heading across the Atlantic, then you’ll want to make sure that you’ve got a good power adapter to accompany you. These will let you get into 220V systems with 110V plugs.
For the best results, make sure that it’s attached to a multi-charger. That way, even if you only have one outlet in the hotel… well, you’ll be able to keep your devices charged. Ask anyone who’s had to juggle multiple in-use devices how handy they are.
It’s a little thing, but a big convenience once you’ve landed. Many people forget them, so don’t be one of them! Keep that adapter and charger in your bag and your trip will go much smoother.
